Director, Business Development

Salary: $140,000-$160,000/year

We are seeking a Director of Business Development on behalf of our client, a leader in the data and information management industry. In this role, you will lead the sales efforts to drive growth, form strategic partnerships, and generate revenue. Your expertise will be key at every stage of the sales pipeline, from developing relationships with senior executives to closing complex enterprise deals.

This position is ideal for someone with a proven track record of exceeding sales targets and building strong relationships with key decision-makers, such as heads of biomarker operations and data science teams. You should be comfortable navigating long enterprise sales cycles and landing new business. Adaptability, resilience, and the ability to create new resources and processes to respond to market changes are essential qualities for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development: Collaborate with the VP of Sales to create and implement a strategic sales plan, identify new business opportunities, and expand the customer base.
  • Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders, addressing their needs with tailored solutions.
  • Sales Execution: Oversee the full sales cycle from lead generation to deal closure. Implement sales processes and tools to enhance efficiency.
  • Market Insights: Stay informed of industry trends and use market intelligence to adjust sales strategies and capitalize on shifts in the market.
  • Revenue Forecasting: Provide accurate sales forecasts and regularly report progress to the leadership team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, particularly in life sciences, IT, consulting, or sales.
  • Strong understanding of IT products and SaaS, with the ability to translate complex concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • 4+ years of SaaS or product experience, preferably in data management technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet sales targets and drive revenue growth.
  • Proficiency in CRM and sales analytics tools.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% for client engagements and industry events.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in life sciences or R&D support within clinical drug development.
  • Experience managing teams or projects is a plus.
